Taylor began his motorcycle racing in dirt track and junior speedway. As a junior he represented Australia twice in the FIM Youth Gold Trophy for speedway. It was inevitable that he wanted to race professionally so when he turned 16 he went to England in 2009 and had a few end of season races for the Mildenhall club. He did well and during the summer break began negotiations with his father Mick's old club Peterborough. In 2010 Taylor rode for Premier league club Stoke, on loan from Peterborough.

A successful 2011 season followed with Ipswich and the club finished 3rd in the Premier League Trophy. Taylor returns to Ipswich for 2012.
